Is Stress Causing You Pain?

Each of us will sense some stress at some moment during our days. Stress is just a something in nature that affects you and causes you to have some physiological, psychological or emotional reaction. Most trouble with stress occurs when a person does not respond appropriately to a given stress situation.

A body can respond in multiple ways. When an individual’s emotional state is unstable, a surge of feelings can be expected. Sweating, elevated heart rate, pain or nausea are the physical responses. The response can also be behavioral causing a person to change their sleeping or eating habits, or to start using addictive substances like alcohol or drugs. It can even manifest as little ticks like nail biting or foot tapping.

Stress is not always a bad thing. In emergency situations like facing a wild animal or an armed robber, it is precisely your body’s response to stress that allows you to either fight or flee, essentially saving you from any harm. Prolonged stress can have adverse effects on the body in the long run.

When a person is tired and his immune system is lowered then he is more susceptible to infections. So it is very significant to know how to combat stress and keep it under control. In order to deal with the stress in your life, it’s vital that you select a technique that works for you from the many available. Every person is a unique so it’s good to find out what works for you. Here are some ways:

Identify your stressors and try to eliminate them. If there are people in your life who might bother you then try to limit contact. If there are activities in your life that can cause you to be angry or worried, then try the less often or delegate them to others. Of course this is not always possible, and in that situation you must learn to control your response to these people.

Try to schedule your life appropriately. Many people feel anxious about having too many responsibilities and too little time. Essentially don’t overbook your life. Give yourself the right amount of time for each activity in your life, whether work or family responsibilities. Set practical goals for the day.

Make some time for yourself. Always take time for yourself to relax. Go after anything that will allow you to be carefree. Also treat your body well. Eat well and sleep well. This will make your body feel healthy.

These are very common recommendations, it seems likely to be useless. However, each little step brings down your stress level - allowing you to have a more satisfying, healthier life.
